WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL and HOW DOES IT WORK?
Laser Hair Removal, also know as SHR, is a form of hair reducing light therapy that significantly reduces the amount of hair growth in the area being treated. Embracing latest in-motion technology, it differs to traditional IPL by delivering less heat at the topical surface of the skin, instead allowing the melanin in the hair follicle to absorb the heat, creating a temperature that causes thermal damage, in turn damaging the hair follicles ability to produce new growth.
WHAT TYPE OF HAIR/SKIN TYPES CAN BE TREATED WITH LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
We are now able to treat skin types from levels 1-5 (1 being the lightest and 5 being fairly dark) and also like never before we can treat blonde hair, red hair and light brown hair. In many instance we have been able to achieve results with grey hair like never before! Upon consultation your therapist will asses your hair and skin type.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE TREATMENT?
Each time you have an area treated, you can expect 10% reduction in hair growth. One of the most exciting things about the SHR machine is of course the fact that it is completely pain free hair removal! You may feel a warming sensation of the hand piece (giving off less heat than a hot stone massage)
Most clients are advised to be treated every 4-6 weeks max, with the average minimum number of treatments around 6. Keep in mind each individual is different and has different results.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO LEADING UP TO A LASER HAIR REMOVAL APPOINTMENT?
Ideally the treatment area should be shaved clean within 12-14 hours prior to the treatment. If there is any remaining stubble your therapist will shave the area.
Waxing/sugaring should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks prior.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT/CAN I REMOVE HAIR IN-BETWEEN TREATMENTS?
One of the best things about SHR laser hair removal is that there is no down time and you can resume normal daily activities. It it however recommended to avoid direct and intense sun exposure within 7-14 days either side of the treatment.
You can still shave in-between treatments but CANNOT wax or tweeze (or any form of removing hair from the root) as this physically removes the target hence reduce the light’s ability to destroy it (you can’t destroy what isn’t there).
